Life is too short for bad cake

As the proud mama of four beautiful children, I have lots of needs for cakes. After many disappointments with sub-par cakes, or settling for supermarket “personalized” layon cakes (with goopy shortening-based frosting – ew!), I decided that enough was enough, and that I could do a better job.

In 2012,

I started making cakes for family and friends. Something was going right, because more people began asking for more & more cakes.

Soon, we realized that we needed to become licensed, or stop doing what we love. I certainly wasn’t ready to give up on this little cake business of mine, so we started looking at different locations and researching how to start a cake business.

It took nearly two years before we found our first home, and Sugar Shack Bakery was born. In November of 2014 we opened our doors to the public.

The Plymouth community is very supportive, and business grew by leaps and bounds. Sadly, in February 2018, our location flooded, and we were back to looking for a new location.

When the owner of the Lifeplex approached us about moving Sugar Shack Bakery there, at first we were hesitant. How could we pull off a successful bakery in the Lifeplex!

The solution was the Daily Grind Cafe, serving coffee, breakfast and lunch, in addition to the bakery items that Sugar Shack has made famous.

So here we are, recovered from the devastating flood, in a beautiful space in a great location. With the support of the community, we look forward to writing the next chapter in our story.

Stop in and see us today.

And remember, life is too short for bad cake.
